Recently we traveled to Baja Mexico in our never ending quest for quality, unique artisan goods for our basketiers up north. On a desert road leading to a remote hidden surf spot, we found ourselves stopped by the defiant mule pictured here, standing squarely in the middle of the road. Refusing to let us pass until we "ponied up" with some booty, we gave him a sandwich and the last of our water. Thus distracted, we made our escape.
